Dolmen Day One Edition for PS5 - Sci-Fi Action RPG Game | Explore Alien Worlds & Battle Monsters | Perfect for Solo & Co-op Gaming Nights

It's a Souls-like action RPG. It's made by a small indie team and so rough around the edges. It's not a ps5 level game, think of it more as a ps3 game for gameplay and you shouldn't be disappointed. Probably the closest comparison would be Hellpoint, given the common Dark Souls influence, slower combat and the Sci fi setting they share. That said, there's a few issues that should be made clear:I'm told the multiplayer is only for boss fights and people have reported not being able to continue on into the game if you do co-op fight a boss (apparently an invisible wall will block further progress unless you defeat the boss solo). I don't know if this is still the case, it might have been patched, but assume not unless you hear differently. The save system is particularly bad. Unlike other games in the genre it doesn't seem to autosave at any point as far as I can tell. Be warned that selecting the option to close the game and return to the main menu does not save progress either (most games will warn you of this and ask you to confirm. This game does not.) The only time it seems to save is if you interact with the teleport machines. I found this out the hard way, looking for a way to open a door I cleared out 95% of the enemies from a level so I could explore easier. I didn't interact with the teleport machine before I closed the game down because it works like the bonfires in Dark Souls games and resurrects all the enemies again and i figured it would have autosaved at some point in the last 10 minutes, surely. When I continued my game 15 minutes later, 90% of my xp was gone. Checking the time on the save file against the time played on my consoles games list, they matched so I don't see what happened. It seems I lost 9,000 xp, but the save file still registers the time I spent earning it. I don't know if the game is broken or if it's a quirk of the weird, user unfriendly save system, but if you do want to buy this game I would recommend buying a physical copy (because getting a refund or selling it on will be easier), being able to install all available updates (I hear version 1.0.0 is even worse) and checking online to see what is patched. Hopefully they'll fix it, but this is the era of unfinished games.
